I love doing this simple salad as a quick lunch on the weekends or for an easy dinner. I like to use a spring mix for the base of the salad, but any lettuce will work or combination. You can choose any type of pear that you like, I like using anjou pears with the skin left on (buy organic if you like using the skin). A lot of recipes that I have seen for this salad uses walnuts, I like to use pecans. To make sure that the pecans are crunchy, I will roast them in the oven in a sweet and spicy mix. For another flare, I cut seedless red grapes in half and toss them in. To round out this wonderful salad we usually will have a nice piece of crunchy bread with butter and a glass of Riesling. Enjoy!
